Today we visted the orphanage where Joshua spent almost two years of his life. It was a beautiful place where almost six hundred hundred children are cared for. About half of this number are in foster care and only spend the weekends at the orphanage. The rest of the children are there all the time. The children are very well cared for physically, but probably lack the one on one attention they need because of the sheer number of children.
Before we came to China we thought that Joshua had been at the orphanage his whole life. After we got here we learned that he has been in foster care since August of this year. The young lady in the photo is Joshua's foster mother. She also works at the orphanage and knew Joshua before he went home with her to live for the past few months.
The little boy with us in the hallway was Joshua's best friend at the orphanage. Joshua's and his baby beds were side by side. During our visit we saw many of the other small children living there. Though they are well cared for, seeing them brought tears too our eyes because we know that only 5-10% of those abandoned each year in China are eventually adopted. Around 100,000 babies are abandoned here each year, mostly little girls. We would love to show you pictures of these beautiful children, but we were not allowed to take photos in the rooms where they are kept. Please pray for the children in the orphanages all across China, that God would call people to adopt them into their hearts and homes. It trully is a calling. If you have ever thought about adopting, or felt God leading you in this direction we strongly urge you to prayfully consider a little one from China!!!

I found your site through asherandjacob, and have enjoyed so much seeing your photos and reading about your experiences in China. 35 years ago we adopted our daughter from Korea, but were not able to go to Korea to get her, but had to wait for her to arrive by plane. Thank you for sharing your journey. All my best wishes for a long and happy life.

Yep it's official. You're parents. You have pictures of him naked to black mail him with before his first date. That is a sure sign you are someone's mommy and daddy.

It looks like Joshua is a happy boy. As always, thanks for sharing this part of your life with us.
Rob told me what to do in order to comment to you. What a great family the three of you make.He sure has a great smile and a hearty laugh. We can hardly wait to see him smile at all of us. We are so looking forward till Friday. The photos are just great, and the orphanage looks like a great building. Did you find out what the reading under the statue says? Dad fell totally in love after seeing the photo where Joshua sits on the black coouch and laughs so heartily.
Luvya all so much, and are so happy for you and thankful to the Lord. HE IS GOOD! Mom and dad
